Why Locals Love Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
Lou Malnati's Pizzeria in Chicago stands as a venerable beacon for deep-dish pizza lovers seeking an authentic taste of the Windy City’s iconic culinary heritage. Situated at 3333 W Fullerton Ave, this pizza takeaway spot offers a carefully crafted menu that showcases the best of traditional and thin-crust pizzas, alongside hearty sandwiches — all perfect for those craving quality and convenience without sacrificing flavor.
The hallmark here is undoubtedly their legendary deep-dish pizzas. Imagine biting into a rich, buttery, and golden crust that holds a luscious, cheese-laden interior, crowned with Lou’s signature vineripened tomato sauce. The Deep Dish Veggie Mozzarella is a delightful garden medley of mushrooms, onions, and green peppers that meld beautifully with the silky mozzarella, offering a vibrant and satisfying vegetarian option priced at $20.89. For meat lovers, the Deep Dish Triple Pepp is a flavorful symphony of three types of pepperoni — savory slices, crispy cupped pepperoni, and smoky strips — all layered lovingly over mozzarella and sauce for $17.59. Not to be missed is the Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic™, boasting Lou’s famously lean sausage, delivering a perfectly balanced, rich, and hearty pizza experience.
If you’re in the mood for something lighter but no less flavorful, their thin-crust offerings excel. The Thin Crust Spinach pizza features a fresh spinach mix enhanced with garlic, basil, and onion, topped with mozzarella – all for $17.99. Meanwhile, the Thin Crust Margherita Pesto Pizza dazzles with fresh mozzarella, bright tomatoes, and a finishing touch of housemade basil pesto ($17.89), creating a fragrant and perfectly baked pie that feels both fresh and indulgent.
For a change of pace, the Italian Beef Sandwich is a savory delight, with tender beef smothered in melted mozzarella, clocking in at $16.99 — a perfect handheld option that still packs all the bold flavors Lou Malnati’s is known for.
Customer feedback paints a vibrant picture of consistency and care. Regulars like OEM KING express unwavering loyalty to “The Lou” deep dish with extra sausage, cheese, and basil, emphasizing the perfection in its cooking and the heft that makes it almost a challenge to cut — a testament to its richness and generosity. Kathy C appreciates the attentive delivery service and even the thoughtful option to keep pizzas uncut to maintain warmth, a subtle touch that shows the pizzeria’s attention to detail. Samantha Fuehring’s polite and understanding exchange when ordering late epitomizes the respectful and transparent communication Lou Malnati’s fosters with customers.
While the majority glow with praise, some honest reflections like Scarlett Li’s show a nuanced palate — while the wings and salad impressed, her deep dish pizza experience leaned toward a dough-heavy bite, highlighting that tastes and expectations can vary, yet Lou Malnati’s dedication to quality shines through the diverse reactions.
At Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, every order—whether for pickup or delivery—feels like a special event, capturing the essence of Chicago’s rich pizza tradition. We order delivery from here every week or two and have always had great service and amazing pizza. For the person who complained that the pizza wasn't cut - that's an option at checkout. Default is to not cut the pizza so it keeps warmer.

I’ve always had a great experience with both pickup, and delivery through this location! Today, I was 100% the bad customer by placing an order 2 minutes before closing. (As I was aware that this location closes at 10). The store, rightfully had to cancel my order because the kitchen was already in the midst of closing! (which I completely understand!) Somebody from the store immediately called me, was very kind and made the situation right. 10/10 I’ll always go back to this store.

Picked up a deep dish, carry out only. Skip the soda $3 for a 20 ounce.... deepdish over all was good . Order was available for the time sent to me.

My go to pizza all the time. "The Lou" deep dish with extra sausage, extra cheese and basil. Toppings so heave the cook came to tell me it can't be cut, and it's heavy. Cooked to perfection as always. Can't say enough good things about Lou Malnatis. It's a staple at our dinner table once every couple weeks.

In general food was decent. We like the salad, nice potion, medium size was plenty good for party of 4. Fried calamari was ok, the wings were good. But our deep dish pizza (the Lou with pepperoni) tasted more dough than cheese which was a bit disappointed. Was expecting more cheesy taste.

I live down the street and this place saves the day every time. Thin crust sausage, onion, Giardiniera. Outstanding!!!

I didn't think I liked deep to Chicago style pizza, but this changed my mind The only thing that would make it better is if they served Coke instead of Pepsi

I've ordered here a few times, and it's been a good experience. This last time, they didn't cut my pizza. On the other hand, it tasted great. They have thin crust which we like and also deep dish a must try. I ordered the application and pickup, and usually, it's not too far off on the timing. They have plenty of parking, and it's easy to pick up. I don't think they do curbside, and if they do, i haven't used it. Overall, I've had good experience with the food so I'll keep coming back.
